Trader Joe's

Trader Joe’s on LakeShore avenue offers a wheelchair accessible and gender free bathroom! This is a very valuable stop on our tour, because trans* people need to shop too! And Trader Joe’s is a reasonably priced grocery store, as you can see in the picture they have 2$ wine! Their staff has always been extremely accommodating to most all of the people I’ve ever spoken to.

Let’s talk more about 2$ buck chuck. They come in cardboard boxes, of course. The selection is limited to: Cabernet Sauvignon, White Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz, but since you can buy a bottle of each for less than what you could pay for a glass of wine at some of the restaurants we’ve been exploring, they are worth it! Trader Joe's is providing a public service by offering customers incredibly low priced wine, because the stress of walking the world as a trans* person, and being forced to be re-gendered when you’re just trying to do something so simple as use the restroom, causes one to need to get shit-faced drunk occasionally.

Last but not least, if trans* folks can’t afford to go out and eat at some of the mapped restaurants we’ve discussed, they still need to eat! So they can shop at Trader Joe’s and not break the bank. Which is a crucial discussion needing to be held surrounding trans*, and specifically trans* poc lives, a lot of trans* folks are poor!
